Graphic Plans

Filed under: Execution plans — Jonathan Lewis @ 9:04 pm BST Apr 13,2007

A little while ago, in a blog about the order of operations in an execution plan, the follow-up discussion about graphical execution plans included a comment from Niall Litchfield about the graphic option in Grid Control.

I’ve finally seen it – and at the site where I was working it wasn’t very pretty. Interestingly, though, it only seems to be available if you have installed the SVG add-in.

I mention this only because I came across a note recently that suggested that things might change in the future, with SVG being phased out. Further details here (if I’ve managed to grab the URL correctly)

  1. I think since they added flash charting to apex3.0 in addition to SVG charting, so it (flash charting) would be an approach to consider for OEM-GC.

At a recent workshop on Grid Control I asjed the instructor about this very thing and he said “not decided yet”.

Oh well, we will see then.

  2. My team and I were also a bit concerned about this, and opened an SR with Oracle. They said the same thing “wait and see”.
